Nepal offers numerous opportunities for magical adventures rooted in ancient cultural and religious history, and is filled with unique and colorful traditions. It is the auspicious birthplace of the Lord Buddha and the Hindu Lord Sita.

Journeys throughout Nepal are carpeted with the beautiful landscapes of plains, hills, rivers, lakes, jungles, and of course the grandeur of the Himalayas. The Himalayas, translated as the “Abode of Snow,” is the youngest and highest mountain system in the world. Eight out of fourteen of the world’s highest peaks are found in Nepal, the highest and most famous being Mt. Everest.

Mount Everest (8,848m.) was named after the British surveyor, Sir George Everest. It is known to local sherpas as Chomolungma, “Goddess Mother of the World,” to many Nepalese as Sagarmatha, “Forehead of the Sky,” and to the Chinese, Qomolangma.

Nepal is a landlocked country elongated along the Himalayas with an area of 147,181 square kilometers. To the north is Tibet, now part of the People’s Republic of China with India surrounding Nepal’s other borders. Kathmandu is the capital city, which in itself is filled with amazing cultural sites and experiences.

Trekking Nepal offers memorable opportunities to meet people from remote mountain villages whose lifestyles and traditions haven’t changed for generations, and to immerse yourself is the powerful wonders of the Himalayan outdoors.

There are treks in the Himalayan rain shadow area where it is possible to avoid rain and that are spectacular. They inlcude Manang, Mustang, Upper Mustang, Dolpa and Hulma.

Autumn (September-November)-This is the most popular trekking season due to the cool weather and clear skies. There are special treks where you can avoid the crowds, with great mountain views, and opportunities to meet local people.

Winter (December-February)- This is a beautiful season to view picture perfect snowcapped mountaintops. The weather tends to be cold at night, foggy in the early morning, with clear and pleasant afternoons.
